Thought it was a hemorrhoid but it seems to be a cyst on my anus, not sure what the plan is now - It's quite swollen and painful to touch but I'm not sure if I should just leave it or visit a doctor. Can anyone recommend any good options that won't break the bank to remove the thing, I imagine it popping very soon.

the actual removal procedure is something a GP can do...I've had a number of sebaceous cysts removed, in California by interns...don't be afraid to go and get it checked out to see what they recommend in your case...

I had a cyst on my back (that's where they usually reside in my case) removed in Jeddah a couple of years ago...it had ruptured and was a mess...best not to let things get to that stage as infection from being on yer anus will be a likely complication...

Not sure but it'll be the size of it if I don't get it removed soon

Think positive. Anus could soon be a suburb of Phuket so you won't have far to travel.

On a more serious note a proper medical inspection would seem to be a good idea. Even if you can't afford the treatment knowing what to expect will at least give you time to make your last will and testament.

Last year when I noticed blood in my stool I imagined the worst and thought it could be a polyps. Turned out to be a couple of shy hemorrhoids doing sentry go inside Sphincter Gate.  What a relief .......sort of.

Problems in that area can be a bummer but good luck with it anyway.

If you want the least expensive option and do not mind long stays in the waiting room, go to the provincial hospital (Vachira) in the town.

Second less expensive route would probably be Mission Hospital.

Cost is going to depend mainly on where you go, but also on what this.  It could be a thrombosed or infected external hemorrhoid - see http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/81039-overview

in which case simple outpatrient procedure to excise.

A bit more complicated if it is a anorectal abcess.

In any case, you need to have it seen to.

DO NOT go to Vachira,

go to the NEW Plastic surgery wing of the Phuket international hospital in town (now owned by Bangkok Phuket Hospital) ,  i just had a 2 cm BCC lesion on my forehead removed there 3 weeks ago. 15,000 baht.

A cyst is not is nothing like BCC.  These things are often swellings due to blocked drainage from a hair and can get huge under the skin.  I had one removed almost the size of a ping pong ball from back of thigh some 40 years ago - was largest surgeon had ever seen and until removed he believed it must be lymphatic tumor.  A normal surgeon can remove (and believe best to remove as drainage is normally only a short term solution) but no need to pay extra for plastic surgeon for this area.

Not sure if this is of any help, I had two smallish cysts removed from my upper back at the Bangkok hospital in Pattaya for about 10,000 Baht last year.

I doubt cosmetic result is of concern given the location  so hardly any call for a plastic surgeon.

As I mentioned, this could be many things, should not assume it is a cyst. Thrombosed external hemorrhoid or anorectal abscess  are more likely based on the OP's description.

Removal of a thrombosed external hemorrhoid is pretty straight forward and Vachira should be Ok for that. If it is an anorectal abcess, a bit more complex.

I went to Vachira and it was a painless procedure, total came to 700B

It was an abscess

Thank you for coming back with a report.

And Sheryl, I just knew you could be counted on to supply a link with interesting photos.  An inspiration to keep up the fiber in my diet!
