Re enameling a bath

Featured Replies

Just checking that you appreciate that "re-enamelling" is a term used for resurfacing; polishing and also laminating.

An original factory "enamelled" bath cannot be re done again in situ.

The original enamel was ok back in year dot but the surface cannot cope with todays chemicals and cleaners, and will stain and discolour the first time you get those pink marigolds on your hands.

I think the way to go nowadays is to laminate and polish and old surface.

Now if you can find such a laminating product then fine but I doubt very much anyone could do it over here.

I would start with looking online for a typical bath laminating solution and then follow some diy videos on how to polish it yourself; sounds to me like the hardest part would be having the patience to polish.

three minutes and I am usually finished.......:shock1:

Thanks for your feedback. And as for your polishing issues I hope you sort them out....

My brother used to work for a bath tub refinishing company.

He told me that they used epoxy paint.

There is very little bathtub use here outside of hotels - most people do not believe a bathtub is a reasonable method to clean there body.  So market for refinish would be very limited (hotels will buy new).
