dblaisde Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Hi all, The title says it all. I want a shop that deals in *good* used phones, and ideally with a return policy. I'd prefer and Android phone from a well known maker. There seem to be many shops that will sell you phones that they know have serious problems, but won't tell you. Or shops that don''t do much testing of their used phones to make sure they're functioning well and without a return policy if it fails soon after you buy it. thanks in advance
2008bangkok Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Not going to happen, your either going to have to chance it or buy new, plenty of decent phones around 5k mark

WIKO Robby (2016 edition, this is important, as it is more powerful and comes with android 6.0). 3.790 Baht - check it on lazada. French company that has become extremely successful in the lower priced segment in Europe. Now growing in Thailand too
dblaisde Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 Thanks for the tip. Never heard of the maker but... http://www.gsmarena.com/wiko_robby-8201.php looks interesting, but probably not a lot of customer feedback yet about glitches or long term usage problems for a 2016 phone. No Amazon reviews yet either (maybe not sold in US). On GSM there are 4 reviews. I'd be more comfortable with an older model still being sold by a company known for reliable hardware that had a lot of positive reviews. Older models sometimes drop in price as newer models come into being and lots of reviews give you an idea of whether you'd be buying a lemon. It seems to be sold in Thailand generally.
mtls2005 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 The shop is irrelevant. First identify a specific make/model or short-list. Familiarize yourself with with the second-hand pricing levels (wholesale and retail). Familiarize yourself with the nuances of the exact make/model, then go shopping. Shop towards the end of the month, agree on a 7 day return policy. You can find Thai books/magazines - if you can't find pricing on the internet - which have second-hand pricing by model in many large bookstores. IMLE, most markets here are very closely matched re: price, with any variations owing to condition.
SaintLouisBlues Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Oppo is an Android smart phone that's very popular with Thais and there are a number of sub-5000 baht models that are new, not secondhand

The info on the GSMarena website is outdated, as the 2016 version sold in Thailand comes with 2GB Ram, not just 1GB
2008bangkok Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 WIKO Robby (2016 version) has the same power, it runs on the latest android 6.01, the company has a very friendly update policy, and it costs just 3.790 THBLooks a good phone unfortunately it's only 3G right?

If you want a 4G device, try the WIKO UFEEL or the WIKO UFEEL LIGHT which is just 4590 Baht. only negative is that the screen is just 5" and not 5.5" as the Robby comes with
