Is memory foam not popular in Thailand?

Featured Replies

I had a memory foam topper in the US, best sleep I ever had. On Lazada I can not find anything decent. I think I may have to just pay the import duties to get a topper off of ebay.

I'm in Pattaya; is it even worth checking out some furniture stores for a memory foam topper here?

This is much hotter and more humid than most places in the US.

Disadvantages
  • Feels hot when sleeping - this property is due to the heat sensitivity of memory foam. Many people in warm climates such as Singapore find a memory foam mattress unpleasantly warm to sleep on.
  • Off-gassing - this is an unpleasant chemical odour which is emitted by many memory foam mattresses, especially when new. Not only does off-gassing smell nasty, but health-wise you might be concerned about breathing in these chemicals when sleeping.
  • Takes more energy to roll over - when you roll over or move on a memory foam mattress, it takes up more of your energy to do so. This is because of the high viscosity of memory foam. Therefore, those who move a lot in bed may find this interrupts their sleep more than it would on another type of mattress.
  • Poor air circulation - air does not circulate easily in a memory foam mattress, making it less well suited for warm humid climates such as those found in Singapore.
  • Not so durable - eventually the memory foam loses its ability to 'spring back'. The heavier the person is, the faster a memory foam mattress will break down.
  • Expense - a memory foam mattress is more expensive than most other types of mattresses.

If you live in Pattaya, you can buy a memory foam topper from the huge FN Outlet. There is one next to the Bangkok - Pattaya motorway by Sri Racha. I bought one from there and find it very comfortable.

I am sure tons of other places sell them.

Any bedding not harder than cement, is not popular with Thais. Why, I have no idea.

But memory foam toppers can be found, though expensive.   It is also possible, at quite reasonable cost, to get a very comfortable latex foam mattress which can be custom made to whatever size you need. There is a place in Pattaya selling these (Latex Innovations or something like that) but a bit pricey. Much less expensive is this place which I have twice ordered from with delivery by mail:

I just purchased a memory foam topper from Hugs-google it.Cost was b4950 for twin size. They deliver.
