Chicken farmer Chanchai Pheamphon, owner of Thammakaset farms, countered with defamation lawsuits filed in October against the 14 migrant workers, and another one against Hall, filed last week at the Bangkok South Criminal Court, which handed down the guilty verdict in September.

"I didn't know he was going to flee. I already filed the lawsuit last week," Chanchai said by telephone. "Everyone who has made me lose my business - I have sued them all."

Asked how many lawsuits he had filed, he said: "Many - a lot."

Chanchai "Trump" Pheamphon, ... :coffee1:

Suing Andy Hall is a national pastime for this crew http://news.trust.org/item/20160920123821-khz0n

"Chicken farmer Chanchai Pheamphon said he planned to celebrate over dinner with Natural Fruit's owner Wirat Piyapornbaiboon and to work with the victorious lawyer to map out his own lawsuit against Hall."

It was the Burmese workers with the support of Andy that tried to sue the chicken Co first.

They were asking for 1.3million between 14 workers that's $ 92,000 thousand each which is roughly 3.2 million baht.

Which is a ridiculous amount to ask for no wonder they sued them back. And now Andy has fled and is trying to play the victim.

Perhaps 'Deepinthailand' owns a chicken farm staffed by migrants?  Either that or he has difficulty distinguishing between a so-called 'tree-hugger', and those that seek to shed light on blatant exploitation, injustice and social inequality.  If people throughout history did not highlight these issues, where would we be?  The American Civil Rights movement is a good example.  Should the world also stand by and  not condemn the exploitation and abuse (both hysical and sexual) of SE Asians in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere, or indeed, the treatment of women in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia?  Let's take it up a notch and ask are the foreign activists who highlight acid attacks on women and honour killings in Pakistan and elsehwre 'tree-huggers'?  Should they cease their activities because that's just the way it is there, pack their bags and go home?  I know that Mr Deepinthaliland will respond that these are not comparable issues, but in terms of the 'look away' attitude he so robustly defends, the principal is exactly the same.  If the people advocate this then nothing will change.  It takes courage to stand up to injustice, it takes nothing to look away and sneer at those who strive to address these things.  And, just for the record, I have never actually hugged a tree.  A toilet bowl a few times, but never a tree.

It's called negotiation.  You start high but of course you don't expect to get the initial amount asked.  Had they started lower, they would have been bargaining for much less.  It happens in political negotiation all the time. It's an integral part of the negotiation process.  These are my demands. What are yours?  Followed by a compromise.  The Israelis and Palestinians have been doing it for decades.  As did the Egyptians and the Israelis.  This is how the Camp David agreement eventually came about.

And the rest of the 90 or something ex-employes got, as far as I know, bugger all when the company was forced to close following Hall's claims of slavery after the dispute had been settled.

Reminds me of "In order to save the village we had to burn the village"

He is a tree hugger pure and simple I have deleted no posts on this matter

I never said you had deleted any post - we all know users cannot delete their own posts, so your protest is unnecessary.

Perhaps this might explain where it went (as well as its air)...

And I stick with my opinion that, to you, trying to help the thousands of foreigners who get treated like s#it in Thailand is a bad thing.

I never once quoted you, so it is impossible that I misquoted you - nor did I ever feel the need to, nor actually, apologise.

...and you accuse me of "making things up." Ha!

You accused me of making things up when I didn't, you say you saw an apology when I had no need to, maybe you're delusional.

There are plenty of ethical trade campaigns people can get involved in that are based in the west but aimed at countries where economic and social injustice is the norm. Especially in these days of International Social Media there is no no need for self endangering glory seeking heroics. Regarding slavery and exploitation try Pakistan - Afghanistan- India or even the USA if you wanna personally campaign against injustice.

It requires a formal request from the police or a court to place a watchlist, blacklist or travel ban. If this formal request cannot be evidenced then section 157 applies.

That's useful to know-you are responding to to a poster who has outlined how to stay here indefinitely without worrying about overstay or visa extensions!

You must have missed the part about him having to grovel to court officials  to get the repeated letters to take to  immigration and them extorting him 10,000 baht each time.

Would be cheaper and less trouble to get an elite visa I think

The Embassy of the European Union?  You've made that up, unless you know where in Thailand it is, of course, or you have some other reference to it.   Why would there be such an institution when all the members of the EU already have their own diplomatic missions?

Not quite, the EU is operating a network of diplomatic missions headed by Ambassadors, but look for yourself:

Why should I make things up in the first place? Yet, I agree, the purpose and the job description of these guys remains mysterious; just hope they know what they are here for.

Who knows why you made it up but you did.  There is no Embassy of the European Union, the link you provide is to details of a European Union Delegation, no mention of a European Embassy at all.

Well, I can explain it to you but I cannot understand it for you. Hope the following deals with your confusion on the wording.

A diplomatic delegation or a mission is commonly referred to as an Embassy, headed by an Ambassador or, in the "Head of Mission" or "Head of Delegation"'s absence, the Chargé d'Affaires. In the Commonwealth fellow member states are represented by a High Commission, headed by a High Commissioner.

Mr Jesús Miguel Sanz Escorihuela. He is the "Head of Delegation" and serves the EU in the rank of an "Ambassador" since October 7th, 2013 to the Kingdom of Thailand and is commonly referred to as "Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary".

Not that it really matters but what is the point you are trying to prove here as your query on the diplomatic status of said EU representation is somehow off the subject of Andy Hall having left Thailand?

Wow.Look at the astonishingly long list of expatriates with the EC delegation - and as you suggest it's not really clear what they are all doing in the first place.Obviously there are EC - Thailand issues to be dealt with but it's inexplicable there should be such a bloated establishment.

One doesn't have to be a Brexiteer to be appalled at the EC bureaucracy.

Nobody recommends working in Thailand. Holidaying once upon a time, yes, but Thailand was never a "great" place to work. This is yet another example of your content-free nonsense posts.

It's going to be fun seeing if you are capable of a realistic thought.

Thinking about it now.
