Ive moved into a new 2 storey house and it rained for the first time last night. This morning in a room on the top floor it seems as if the leak is coming through the air con unit. The unit is situated above a set of french doors facing the front of the house. it looks like theres a small wet patch on the ceiling above the air con system. Can I assume that there must be a hole in the roof and that the water is running through the unit as its attached to the vertical wall.

I presume that I should buy some exterior silicon sealer and send the handyman up there to patch it up. Is it best to wait until its 100% dry. my logic tells me yesssss...

The landlord is kee neow big time and told us that we will have to fix things ourselves. This was after he drove us around town showing us all the shops that he owns.

Thanks for your opinion on this

Don't start with causing trouble stating contract landlord has already told you his intent.

What of roof is it ??

Is the roof leak area easily accessible ??

I agree that I should not contact the landlord. I saw the bucket under the air con on our first visit and thought to myself is that leaking. The second visit it was not there and I forgot.

The roof is high and really flat. I will have to wait and see after the handyman gets up there if he is game enough. Access is a bit tricky to be honest.

Ok just a thought was you using the air-con when it was raining so check moisture water outlet pipe from air-con for blockage.
