Availability in Thailand?

Featured Replies

I had bypass surgery in the US last month and am returning to Thailand this week.

Are the following medications available in some form in Thailand?

Which, if any require a prescription or are only available in hospital pharmacy's?

Aspirin  81mg
Metoprolol Tartrate
Folic Acid
Clopidogrel
Cyanocobalamin
Valsartan
Atorvastatin

Thank you

All are available.  None requires a prescription.  Some will only be available on larger pharmacies (Thai FDA Category D).  None is exclusively available in hospital pharmacies.

That's great news, thanks for the information.

I depart for Thailand tonight and my hospital pharmacy failed to post my refills until yesterday, meaning they will arrive at my US address long after I have landed in Bangkok.

Related question:  Can non-restricted pharmaceuticals such as these be mailed to Thailand from the US if the bottles show a prescription number?

Not legally, no.  You'd need an import licence which isn't available to private individuals.

Thanks, Oxx for the specific information.

While this is true, in practice customs usually lets small packages containing non-controlled drugs through if sent by regular air mail. No guarantee, but usually arrives. use of courier definitely not recommended.
