BANGKOK: -- A Bangkok air-bus ended up stuck on a central divider after it swerved to miss a car yesterday lunchtime.

Four or five people were treated for minor injuries at Nawamin 9 Hospital and allowed to go home, reports Manager Online.

The accident occurred near the market in Minburi. The accident caused a long tailback on the Sihaburanakit Road that was reduced to one lane for two hours while a tow truck was used to extricate the bus.

Police covered the road in sand after engine oil leaked out. Part of the front windscreen was smashed. A minivan was also damaged in the incident.

A witness in a car following told reporters that the bus swerved to miss a car. The bus was not going very fast but still ended up on the barrier.

The driver of the service from Minburi to Silom was not named.

Police are examining CCTV to discover exactly what happened.

Traffic at this spot is extremely congested,U turn underpass,entry/exit Minburi market and very large bus station plus entry to overpass. Taxis, busses.minibus, vans, motorcy, cars and pedestrians all use the roadway. Always a drama negotiating this area

Driver should be given a medal for potentially saving lives in that car he missed. :coffee1:

Could not stop? Not paying attention to traffic ahead? Nah, no medal - sorry.

My only comment would be----- If he was not going that fast, how come he travelled so far along the central divider.I would presume the driver would have been braking before or immediately after the front went up in the air like that. Just come to me------ the "air bus " went up in the air-----logical really:smile:

Only about 80 Km/h ... in a zone where 40 Km/h would have been appropriate.

Where did you get that misinformation from?

Air Bus?

As in Air Craft?

Well, lift off was not completed.

Neither, it wasn't described as an "Air Bus", it was an air-bus, that's an air-conditioned bus but you knew that anyway.

It's always good to have actual witnesses to these incidents on Thaivisa, that way a lot of needless discussion and speculation about what didn't happen is avoided.  Thanks, Ivr181.

You'd be amazed what a bit of inertia can do?  Logical really.

Perhaps when the bus had come to a halt the driver tried to drive off the barrier but couldn't because the steering was not functioning due to the front wheel being on the wrong side of the barrier?   The nearside rear driven wheels were in contact with the road and that would have put the bus further on to the barrier.  Logical really.

Logic would be to reserve off the barrier. You must be talking about Thai logic.

Reverse might be good also?  :whistling:

No, I was referring to biplanebluey's logic.
