Looking to buy a decent used pick up or car preferably a pick up, I know the prices of second hand vehicles here is big money compared to the UK where I could buy something for a few hundred quid, what would I expect for around 200,000 baht? am in Bangkok.

Honestly I would rethink what you are paying, 200,000 will get very little here.
Take a look at Kaidee online for some of the cheaper vehicles to be found as a guideline

I sold my 8 year old Isuzu D Max, with just over 100,000 klms on the clock, in immaculate condition for 250,000 baht. I did sell it to a Thai family member, but that was the best offer I got from one of the tent dealers in Pattaya, so I let them have it for the same price. I would say you could pick up something half decent for 200-250,000, but probably only from a private sale.

You had a D-Max and you didn't replace it with another ... you bought  Mitsu ... you get it for half price

At least the motor hasn't cut out coming down through any hills, but then, it's not a Ford.

My Ford Ranger hasn't had the engine cut out coming down the hill either.

Then again it is only 15 years old with a mere 336,xxx km on the clock.

How old and ho many km does your Ford have or perhaps you don't actually have one.

My response was to JAS21, not you.

Low tech works and is simple.

That is one of the things I like about it.

We can take it to the local guy in the village and he can fix it for a reasonable price.

I had a look under the bonnet of the the latest Ford Ranger and I could recognise the battery, the radiator and its filler, the screen washer bottle, the dipsticks and that was about it.

If I bought one I would have to get it 65km to the nearest Ford dealer and make the choice of which arm or leg to cut off to pay the bill.

If you take the plastic cover off it's all the same underneath.

Early last year I bought a 10 year old Mitsu Lancer Manual transmission from a car tent on the outskirts of BKK, went with a Thai friend to look at cars.

Have had it nearly 2 years now, no major issues, just had it serviced once and the rear brake pad's changed. It has taken me from Pattaya to Songkhla, Phuket, Chang Mai, Koh Chang etc as well as many many trips between BKK and Pattaya without using any oil or coolent, so you can buy a decent car for around 200,000 baht IMO. I know a simular car in the UK would probabaly only be about £1,500 UKP but the market is diffrent here, and running costs and petrol prices are cheaper in Thailand so it should all even out in the end.

Only thing I don't like about it, it is kinda boring to drive due to low power compared to car's I have owned in the west, thinking of an engine swap to give it a bit more grunt, not that there is anything wroing with the current engine. Hope I don't ruin it 5555.

Doubt it...

Looks a bit like this. The top one is the 2016 Ranger engine bay and the other is the 2017 Ranger engine bay.

My 15 year old Ranger engine bay looks nothing like this

The bottom one isn't a pick-up as the engine is pointing the wrong way!
