Lack of Water/Water Pressure

Recommended Posts

We don't seem to be getting rather required amount of water through to our washing machine according to the indicator. Not being a plumber I am unsure if this is due to the very thin diameter pipes we seem to haves (which I assume are bog standard here in Thailand) and/or the pump from the water tank or indeed the water tank itself.

Wondered if any other TV members had either experienced similar problems and can offer best and cheapest solution or indeed some plumbers on here

How is the flow if you remove the washing machine pipe from the tap?

Do you have pressure / flow issues elsewhere in the house?

Do verify that the washer is supplied from the pump rather than city water.

One assumes that the "thin pipes" are the standard 1/2" PVC, they should have more than enough flow for your washer unless the pressure is well down or there's a blockage.

Normally there is a wire filter inside the water inlet to washer so make sure that is not blocked - and run from tap to pail a bit to clear anything in line.

Use laundry services until February or PM and will walkthrough Q&A regarding dynamics, per machine, per feed for solution.

Skids on shorts is a no-no.

Removed the pipe and there seems to be enough water coming through. Water comes from the pump I assume as it always makes a noise whenever we use any water, or could we have both pump and city water?

Tried checking the inlet but the screws are in really tight so I might have to invest in a new screwdriver to check that. Wonder could it be the hose connecting the tap to the washing machine? Guess I could test the water going throught that, didn't think of that till now, genius that I am NOT!

Undo the hose from the machine, you should be able to see and remove any mesh filter, whilst it's off check flow through the hose.

Check if your tap has a mesh too, many do and they block up.

Even with a tiny pump the water should gush rather than just flow from an open tap.

It's hardly rocket science, bud.

Also; another obvious one but just check your lever tap is fully open; sometimes it was get knocked into semi closed position.

Your washer connection should look like this.

Finally its 20yr since i bought a new washer and was surprised now that they all seem to have this water managment ability to weigh the load you have and regulate the water requirement accordingly.

Are you sure there is insufficient water despite the display telling you so.

What is simple to some is rocket science to others.... :cheesy:

I am am one of those hopeless DIY people and as the washing machine is only 4 months old my wife decided it was best to call out the service guy who will be coming this Tuesday. :clap2:

Keep us updated

From post #5 it is quite likely that there is a blockage.

A bad case is limestone clogging the "detergent box" (don't know the English term).

That was the case here.

The machine was still working but water intake was oscillating in short cycles (pump working hard).

Occasionally the machine stopped with the infamous "E1" (no or insufficient water flow).

I disassembled and cleaned the box.

Since then water intake is continuous.

(we have different water source since a while)

If it happens after such a short time would mean that you have very "hard" water (lot of mineral/lime).

I did this DIY while my wife was away

The problem was actually a "lid" on top of the marked box which was clogged.

as promised I am reporting back. The service guy came out and said it was to do with the angle of the pipe which seemed to do the trick. Did make me wonder why they didnt do this when they installed it. Anyways my wife said the error isnt coming up now so I guess problem solved and it was all due to the angle of the dangling pipe ?

A lot of people offered helpful information and The OP comes up with this. Guess he is back in the ME and his wife and the service man really got it together with a new angle.

I did try what people suggested but my DIY skills are very poor and as the washing machine is only a few months old its still under warranty so why not call the experts out.

Not so sure they would have got it today together as my wife is 8 months pregnant, jeez you have an active immagination ?
