Migrant boats bound for EU should be ‘shot at,’ says Danish politician

re meeting up with these boats at sea,

you could assist/tow 'em to Italy

you could assist/tow 'em to where they came from

Now, would ships under EU "command" be allowed to enter Libyan waters with a refugee plimzoller in tow?

I don't know, may be/may be not.

Now, a ship is a ship, even if its full of refugees. As long as that ship is in international waters it is "sovereign".

European authorities can prevent refugee plimzollers from entering European waters, however, they cannot force them

to go back to wherever they came from. But they can keep the plimzollers on the non EU side of the border.

Tow them back to where they came from they can not do, they don't have the authority.

Where would EU like to watch people die and ascend?

at the border in the seas or on the beaches of Lampedusa?

There are no simple solutions to this massive refugee stuff going on now, no easy way to handle this.

If I were Danish , I would certainly vote for this guy. He dares to say what a lot of europeans want to say , but can't anymore , because free speech died a while ago.

"He later softened his statement " ..... because he knows he will get sued or removed from his post.

So just let the women and kids starve at sea. I am sure the people of the world were not this uncivilised when borders did not even exist.

i imagine many that say 'turn them back' will also claim to be Christian or some other God loving religion. " Save the poor and homeless of the world, as long as you dont make my country the one that has to take them in."

Why don't you taken a dozen Syrians into your home; Mr. Christian.

Or maybe just turn all boats around or transport the occupants back to where they started their sea journey.

And pass a law that says any illegal immigrant will never be granted permission to stay.

How about that for starters?

of course its not that simple. most western countries have signed an agreement that states they will give asylum to anyone whos life is in danger in their own country of origin. pretty sure every country has laws saying illegal immigrants can not stay. it is just expensive to determine who is illegal.

You'd be surprised.... In his "De Bello Gallico" Julius Caesar describes how during the siege of Alesia the besieged Gauls ran out of food and went to drive their women and children out of the city gates to make them the problem of the Roman siege force. Who let them stay where they were, in no-man's-land, to starve.

As long as you don't make my country? This is exactly what happened in late 2015 when Balkan countries and even Austria chartered busses to move droves of refugees, actual or not, on to the next border. And before with Dublin II, when Europe tried to effectively make Greece and Italy to take anyone, which those countries answered with some underhand resistance.

Instead of voting or referendums , people should fill in on their tax form whether they want immigrants , refugees ( political or economic) , and pay for it . All the bleading hearts can pay straight into a fund to pay for "refugees" , and forced to keep paying 'till the last one is gone. Only this fund can be used to pay for the "migrants"  .  All other costs like for security , administration but also costs for riots damage and control and any damage through terrorism , vandalisme or other criminal activity will be reclaimed from who wanted them in their country . People who oppose immigrants/refugees shouldn't pay anything. Let's see how many still want them then.

Most people are not aware that the mass immigration to Europe of Asian, North African, Middle Eastern, African and sub saharian people started long before the Syrian conflict.

The mass immigration during the Syrian civil war to EU started just after the Russian government came in action on the Political and military stages in Syria.

By mass immigration of Asians...you mean South Asians (Pakistanis, Indians, Bangladeshis, etc) right? Hardly notice any mass immigration of East Asians (Japanese, Taiwanese, South Koreans, etc).

11.000 euro/ year plus health care plus housing...only the FN say that and it has been proven wrong...the only links I have are in french so cannot post them here, but stop listening to the FN propaganda

The housing agency that I've contracted for my condos in Europa rented 2 of them to recent immigrants. I won't post their nationalities, but my country was never involved in one of their conflicts.

A proof of salary is required in my country in order to obtain a lease contract for the condos. In their case I've obtained a proof of financial subsidies from the local ministry of social affairs.

To be more precise : the yearly amount is 10.004,54 EUR. And dates from 2014. Indexation before 2017 should add 3% per year.

The trouble goes back a long way from installing the Shar in Iran to George W finishing off his dad's good work on Saddam. It was about oil supply. The sad part is that these people are displaced from a war they never asked for. The people who contributed to its consequences are dead or are just too old. The killings from these old regimes are replaced by the displaced despots that were under these ratbags. Now a Danish socialist politician wants to make the headlines and threaten a threatened people, who can't look after themselves. The countries that raped and pillaged these countries need to own up and adopt moral decency and help these people. They took the oil money, lavished themselves on the food and the women. Maybe their children should look at where their money came from. Sad commentary from the Danes.

Correct, I mean South Asians for actual mass immigration related to OP.

But Chinese and Vietnamese slow immigration to Europe started since the 60's.

Absolutely they should not be 'rescued' but turned back, to take them in only leads to far more doing the same.

Exactly, once they are picked up by navel boats most of their problems are over, would'nt be surprised if this is not the original idea, simply get picked up and landed safely in their original destinations!

Actually the practical solutions are simple, but politically difficult.

Either Europe and western countries accept millions of refugees that they can't afford to take in, and which will fundamentally change the western way of life, or they say no more. Nothing could be simpler to stop the flow than the Australian solution, which has been proven to stop illegal immigration by boat.

The refugees will come as long as they have even a glimmer of hope.

I'm not going to be around much longer, so it's not going to affect me, but the younger generation need to pull finger and decide what sort of future they want in their own countries.

Al Jazira ran a very interesting documentary series about how the big oil companies manipulated African governments post colonialism to ensure they continued to get oil at very low prices.

Called the secret of the 7 sisters.

Worth a look.

Offshore detention and boat turn back is actually very difficult to achieve. I have read that EU is trying (led by Germany)  to develop policy and processes for boat turn back and offshore detention facilities in countries such as Tunisia & Algeria, obviously Libya is currently not a viable option. Whether the EU can reach Govt to Govt agreement and sufficient funding for the facilities is highly questionable.

BTW currently Australian offshore detention is currently costing approx AUD$500k per person p.a.

What's your solution then - a socialist /communist world government centrally controlling everything through appointed bureaucrats selected by a few "elected" leaders who are chosen from candidates withing a narrow political framework?

Replace 'socialist / communist' with 'capitalist' and that is exactly what we have in the west. We are there already, except most of us don't realise it.

I see!

The most emphatic of TVs best are at it again!

Yeah...you are so right!

Europe is a hot pile of 5h1t these, days...no stone left on the other, everything is in ruins, people are dying in the streets...oh wait...that is actually the description of where the refugees come from!

In Europe, even the poorer are living way way better, than any refugee!

Not if you believe Breitbart, but...

If it really costs that much, then it just proves that the government is incompetent, or corrupt.  However, the cost to society by allowing the boats to return would be far higher.
