PRACHIN BURI – One might expect or accept a Thai citizen having their vehicle stuck by a train at a railway crossing but today three “police officers” were injured when their pickup truck collided with a passenger train at a crossing in Kabin Buri district.

The three Thai Policemen who are supposedly trained to enforce and abide by traffic laws in Thailand were driving a police truck belonging to the Province’s forensic division, heading to the station after finishing an inspection at a fire scene in tambon Ban Na in Kabin Buri district.

The driver (A Police Officer) apparently wasn’t familiar with the route and didn’t know the train schedule, as he crossed the tracks the police truck was struck by the Aranyaprathet to Bangkok train travelling on its “normal” schedule.

"The driver (A Police Officer) apparently wasn’t familiar with the route and didn’t know the train schedule, as he crossed the tracks the police truck was struck by the Aranyaprathet to Bangkok train travelling on its “normal” schedule." (And its normal speed.)

As a member of a "professional, highly trained and respected "police force, he ought to have known to stop, look and listen at an unprotected railway crossing. Fortunately no-one was killed and I hope the cops make a speedy recovery. As for the truck, may it Rust In Pieces. I'm sure the train driver was relieved to hear that there were no fatalities.

Did you understand the significance of the italicized words? I use sarcasm sparingly.

No, they are very efficient when it comes to collecting tea money, about the only thing they are efficient at.

Maybe, when they're going after motorcycles and cars.  Not so much with trains.

I am amazed about how many people that doesn´t read all the information about something, and after that make a strange comment. This could have happened to anybody, and is not anything that is making the police stupid or bad in any way. This happens because no barriers at the crossing has been set up, like it should be. If the road was there when the rail was buildt then it´s the railway company´s responsibility, and if the road is buildt after the railway it´s the road departments responsibility. It has nothing to do with anything from stupidity and brain cells to amazing Thailand. Luckily no one died this time.
