BANGKOK: -- Most passengers are satisfied with the service of new boats in Klong Saen Saeb after one week of test run by Krobkrua Khonsong Company.

The company put into service two new motor boats plyig between Wat Sribunruang pier and Pratunam for a trial for a week now.

Each boat has the capacity to accommodate up to 120 passengers at a time and it is fitted with environment-friendly engines which are quiet and emit little smoke. There are also 150 life jackets on board to ensure safety for passengers.

One of the passengers, Kiratiporn Khao Sawang, told a Thai PBS reporter that she felt safe travelling in the new boat. She said that it was safer for passengers to embark and disembark from the mid-section of the boat.

It is not using Bangkok roads, therefor, it is a vast improvement.

Before BTS and MRT, the only way to get around cheaply and quickly was by using the klong and river ferries.

f its the same speed crazy drivers there will be more accidents,

you would think that they and the city bus drivers get paid by how many round trips they make in a day......

I have used these boats often, and I am pleased to see the new boats that look to be much better designed.

They don't crash into each other, it was just difficult getting on and off with the lack of steps and an aisle in the middle.

A good service, and if they replace or refurbish all the boats it will be much safer.
