Some information on travelling around in phuket

Featured Replies

I know taxi fares from the airport to any in phuket like the town or patong for example cost around 700-800 bht but i understand that there's vans, mini buses etc around. I searched on the net and the info is around 3 years old at 2013 so are the pricing the same in the yr 2016?

Is there a direct van/bus from phuket airport to patong area? What's the cheapest way to travel around phuket from beach to beach or beach to town etc. Thanks.

Easy enough to catch a shared minibus from airport to Patong, usually cost in the 180 baht range, downside is you will have to wait until the van fills up. There is supposed to be a public service bus from airport to Patong, but not sure it is still operating. Plus the schedule is erratic and long time (hours) between buses.

Cheapest way to travel about is by rented motorbike. 300 baht/day or less. It's also quite a dangerous way for all the novice driving I see wobbling about the narrow roads.

Tourist beaches to Phuket town about 50 baht on the local bus services

At phuket town you can catch other buses to the different beach tourist locations

You have to travel back to phuket town each time to reach the other tourist beaches by local bus service

there is no direct bus service between the beach resort areas, travelling on the local bus service is fun and interesting if you have the time, which most tourists do

Hiring a car and driver for the day to see all around the island will cost you about 3000 baht which is really not expensive for the majority of tourists about $85 USD
