rooster59
Politicians want next election as soon as possible By THE SUNDAY NATION File photo: Democrat Party former MP Watchara Petchthong POLITICIANS from the country’s largest political parties, the Democrats and Pheu Thai, have blamed coup-maker chief and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha for possible changes in the “roadmap” to democracy that could delay the promised general election until September 2018. They called on him to ensure that power is handed back to voters as soon as possible. “Since the people agreed to allow the National Council for Peace and Order [NCPO] to rule the country, we politicians just have to know our place,” Democrat Party former MP Watchara Petchthong said. waldroj
Aah !!! The ramblings of a "politician" - half truths, innuendo, and downright lies and fantasy: “...Since the people agreed to allow the NCPO to rule the country..." - WRONG !!! "...we politicians just have to know our place..." - RIGHT !!! Prophetic words indeed - pity they (the Thai excuse for "politicians") didn't realise this in 2014. Don't expect the Thai military to know its place any time soon though.

When has the power ever been in the hands of the voters? They just elect the public face of the Elite who have always had the real power. Not the voters. Not the elected politicians. The Thai population are who could be best described as "The people" and they had absolutely no say in the NCPO taking control of the country. The quote is indistinct from NCPO propaganda which includes the demonisation and neutering of politicians.

tomacht8
Two days ago the announced election was still at the end of 2017. Now it is September 2018.In 2 days, it will be then the year 2019.A farce.More inaccurate can be no planning. They have called the devil's expellers and now will not get rid of them. greenchair
The people agreed to the constitution (or so we are told ) because they were promised ,absolutely promised there would be an election early 2017. Someone should make this government put all these promises in writing.

They have now said 19 months after the constitution is programulated . So that will be a few more months. 2020 is looking about it to most people. But don't count on that. edwinchester
They can call on The General to restore voting rights to the Thai people but they are talking to a man who has consistently lied to the population for years now. First there would be no coup, he was fond of saying several times during the Yingluck administration. Then there was elections in 2015.....then 2016.....then 2017. Now it's 2018 at the very best. Based on what he has said whilst in power I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
