1st Gen Toyota Fortuner suspension

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Does anyone know what type of suspension the 1st Gen Fortuner have? Coil Springs or Leaf Springs?

Thanks.

Coil then.

Coil front leaf rear. They were also crap handling wise a real bugger at high speed or any speed come to that. Not forgetting that they had at best crap brakes. All was changed later to coil all round a bigger servo with upgraded discs calipers & rear drums. I think that was done in 2007. But I could be wrong on the date.

The earlier Sport Rider had rear leaf springs.

The fortuner did start with crap brakes but the rear coil springs were on the early models as well.

I think I am right in saying that the Tuna has a five link rear axle so it is slightly less rubbish than the normal pickup arrangement.
