Late night taxi Bangla Rd to Layan beach area

Featured Replies

Could anyone advise of their best guess at cost please.

Also, is it even advisable. I have a friend who seems to think that it would be almost certain I'd get robbed by the taxi driver but surely things can't be that bad can they!!??

At a guess, 1000 Bt plus.

Shouldn't have any problem with robbery. Very rare as the Taxis usually have an ID of the driver.

GrabTaxi estimates 640 baht from Jungceylon to Layan Beach restaurant.  This is then Limo option.  Meter version less, but may be harder to book.

Thanks for the replies.

I didn't think to try Grabtaxi even though I use it a lot in Bangkok.

Fare was 900 baht each way and I was pleasantly surprised that the taxi I got right by Bangla Rd asked for the same amount as the taxi my hotel booked for me. I was expecting it to be x1.5 ish getting it off the street in that area.

Had an interesting conversation with the taxi driver on the way to Patong who seemed a very pleasant and decent honest sort. He was telling me how since the army stamped its mark Phuket he no longer has to pay the police 1000 baht per month just to be able to drive his cab and how almost all of the Thai locals approve of the cleaning up of the beaches etc and generally giving the "mafia" a good kick up the arse.

PAX Romana as the old saying goes.  Time will tell.

The fare is the robbery.
