Unfinished structure for a street level elevator at BTS Ari was roped off with a sign saying it would be ready in September.

BANGKOK — City Hall has offered yet another vague deadline after the last passed for it to comply with a court order and retrofit its BTS Skytrain stations with elevators.

A year after the court’s deadline came and went without results, project developer Seri Construction said Monday it had no definite date for completing the work but “hoped” to see some of the stations open in the coming months.

The one at Thong Lo is in the same situation, it seems to have been completed long ao yet still not operational.  It's a disgrace that disabled people have had to wait so long due to incompetence.

the one at BTS phrom phong seems to be getting close to ready.  if i remember correctly, they have one elevator that gets you to the station level, that has been 'complete' for quite awhile.  and recently i noticed an elevator that takes you from station level to train track level.  so that part is new.  not an easy city to get around for disabled folks.

Most of the stations along the Sukhumvit line where I've noticed elevator work being done seem nowhere close to completion -- the one exception I've noticed as mentioned above is Phrom Phong BTS. And I've noticed absolutely no increased attention or urgency to the progress of the work being done over the past year.

I've never actually seen any workers working on the project, even though I'm in and out of the BTS line all the time. And frankly, from what I can see, the elevator installation locations are pretty isolated from the operating/customer traveling portions of the stations. Can't really see any reason why the elevator work couldn't go on during the days and evenings when the stations are in normal use.

So a court makes a decision but there are no penalties to not complying?

That sounds a bit strange to me, normally court come with a verdict that includes a penalty to avoid exactly what is happening here.

they are just waiting for an auspicious date to open the disabled elevators.......

April 1st would be suitable....

Another "joke" at the expense of the elderly and the physically handicapped? Shame on City Hall. :post-4641-1156693976:

As an aside, a few weeks ago, BTS staff in one of the Sukhumvit Line stations (I forget which), in its collective wisdom, chose to delay everyone's accessing the escalator. Lo and behold, the reason became clear when they reversed its direction in order to bring a lady, with walking issues, down from the platform.

The lift? If there is one, it was, presumably, cobwebbed. If there isn't, then time they got on with it ... then used it.
