External Monitor after Standby not detect

I use a Samsung Notebook and an external 24inch Samsung Monitor by HDMI. So, they should be best friends :)

 

When I leave, I put my notebook into sleep mode. Since a few days, after I wake up the notebook, the external monitor gets often not recognized. Then I plug off and on the HDMI cable. After 2-4 times, the monitor gets detect.

 

Some ideas what could be the reason for this?

A friend of mine has a newish Dell XPS and when it comes out of standby the keyboard invariably doesn't work.

I just turn standby off and dim the screen.
