NAKHON SAWAN: -- A train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai derailed at Ta-klee district of Nakhon Sawan before dawn today, but there were no injuries.

The incident happened at about 3.00 am today near Nong Pho railway station in Ta-klee district.

The retailer train obstructed the tracks and caused all north-bound trains to delay for three hours before it was removed and put back on the tracks.

The Chiang Mai- Bangkok train which was scheduled to arrive at Bangkok railway station at 06.05 am today was forced to stop and wait for clear passage at Nakhon Sawan railway station.

If I'm not mistaken, the train didn't derail but was hit by a sugar truck at a crossing which caused it to derail, the truck driver died.

Maybe a separate incident but I doubt it as it is the same location.

I gather most delays with SRT can be booked on the accounts of others.

Road transport, permanent way contractors not ready in time or making mistakes, and more of those.

But, all seem to blame SRT.

Mini Van's crash,, busses run offroad and burn, taxi drivers fight and shoot or stab, now trains derail...(take a deep breath),, Am i just negative or is it that theLOS is still just a 3rd world country.

Well, Thailand being a Buddhist country, you are more likely to find the philosophical question of "What is time" in Buddhist philosophy.

Why do you want to see a train on time in Thailand anyway Mr Fishman1? You really like to see train on time,?Go to Japan.

In my early days in Thailand the train arrived quite late in Hua Hin prompting me to ask, my then girlfriend, whether Thailand had timezones. It was a couple of hours late.

in the link to the original article it states: " Passengers on train were not notified of the delay".

So I would think the 3 hour or so delay SRT thought it better to let the passengers think, just another day, nothing out of the ordinary.
