BANGKOK: -- Parents and their one-year-old twin daughters and the girls’ grand mother were killed when a fire engulfed their shop house in Bangkok’s Bueng Koom district early Wednesday.

 

Police said the fire started at 3:45 am at the three-storey Lim Thongchai Charoen Yont shop house on Soi Navamin 99 off Navamin road.

 

Ten fire engines took about an hour to control the blaze. Fire fighters later found the charred bodies of the five victims on the second floor.

Five family members died in predawn fire at Lard Prao area

BANGKOK: -- Five family members who included two one-year-old twin baby girls were killed after they were trapped inside their rooms in a three-storey row shop building on Soi Nawamin 99 in Lard Prao area this morning.

 

The tragic fire happened at about 03.45 am at the shop house named “Lim Thongchai Charoenyont” which operated  car accessories business.

 

Lard Prao police said 10 family members stayed at the shop house when the fire started. But five managed to escape from the shop while five others were trapped in their bedrooms.

 

Survivors told police that they heard an explosion first and the fire started to rage quickly from the second floor room to the third floor.

 

They alerted fire police.

 

Ten fire trucks arrived but could get the fire under control an hour later.

Shophouse fire kills 5 in northeast Bangkok

A shophouse in flames early Wednesday morning in Soi Nawamin 99 in Bangkok’s Bueng Kum district.

 

BANGKOK — A three-story shophouse went up in flames early Wednesday morning in northeastern Bangkok, killing five people inside.

 

Four family members were trapped on the third floor when the fire broke out just after 3am at the shophouse in the capital’s Bueng Kum district. A man became the fifth victim after he went back inside to rescue members of his family and died.

obviously no need for any special precautions.

So  sad. But typically the majority of these  multi  level shop/house structures  only have  access through the ground  level "shop". 

In the event  of  fire the only other route is to the roof which is also often caged  to prevent  entry but  therefore  prevents exit easy escape ! Smoke  Alarms  do not seem to be a priority in Thailand either.

But at such early hours of the  morning the  fumes probably incapacitated the  victims quickly. Still a horrible way to die.
