Beach Below Rawai?

Featured Replies

Does this little beach have a name, and is it accessible to the public? Nice to discover another beach in the cape area. I'll go and check it out.

Follow the chinese small tourist buses that leave from viset road near Rawai beach to find it

a lot of the speed boats leave from it

I do not know its name but think that may be the beach, i am sure someone will say if i am wrong

Looking at the map again i am wrong, looks like the road that goes left just past the local govt offices and continues around rawai beach, i have only seen private roads/drives going towards the ocean of it

According to my maps its called Coral Beach. There is also a little icon that just states that there is a resort there. So I imagine its the Coral Beach Resort . Next door( next road) is the Baan Khunying Private Beach Resort.

I fully respect your right to keep your ill-informed opinion to yourself !

Well it would be the closest launching point to Coral Island (Ko He)

But where are you getting this information? There is no mention of a Coral Beach anywhere online, and the only Coral Beach Resort in Phuket is just south of Patong.

So no ones opinion except yours is right, i stick to my opinion

So keep your ill informed opinion to yourself sport and get a life

This is a forum and anyone can post their opinion on it without your permission, beleive it or not

We have explored that road many times and know it well, The roads shown leading to the beach area are not roads but single width one way driveways if using a vehicle and disappear into the undergrowth and trees and you cannot see where they go to ,, not interested in going in because if you meet a vehicle coming in the opposite direction you would have to back all the way out again

The drives do not seem to be used regularly so it cannot be much of a beach in my opinion

If you use a bike to go in there is no problem getting in and out, but there is no public bus or minibus service to the area

madmax2 - I think it's an attempt at a humorous signature line, as it appears on all of his posts.

He really needs to modify it to make it obvious that it's supposed to be a funny signature line, and not really part of the post or directed at anyone in particular.

and on reflection I have Madmax2 after seeing it wasn't been taken as a joke.

also I'm using google maps on my phone and looking at the area circled on your map in texta. google has a write up about the beach and 8 photos. Apologies to all about my insensitive signature.

And it says Coral Beach ? I took that shot from Google Maps (desktop version) and no amount of zooming in gave me a name.

EDIT: Nor does viewing it on my Galaxy S7

Strange since I'm using an S7 too. It doesn't say the name on the map itself. You jave to drop a pin on the resort icon and then scroll down to the info at the bottom of screen. Is the other private beach resort on the next road on your nap?

I also got the name Coral Beach on Google Maps.

I missed this post. Thanks for the info, I'll go and have a look down there. According to Google Maps, it's only 1.1km away from where I'll be staying, so an easy walk (from memory theres no hills around there, right ? Unlike that behemoth between Ya Nui and Nai Narn).

Interesting, thanks. Not sure why I'm not seeing anything, but what's in a name ? Def. have to go down and see if it's worth the visit. Would be nice to find a quiet uninhabited beach to hang out with my friend and do some skinny dipping !

You'll have to turn left on the backroad (hilly) from Rawai direction Promthep.

Zooming right in and clicking the icon, I can now see 'Coral Beach Resort' tag. However no such place exists as a public hotel. Maybe it's some rich falang's private beach getaway - in which case I will be trespassing.

Google maps does tell me it's a private road to get in there.

THIS may be the beach in question.....

taken from the site of a luxury villa down there also

What's the law state anyway, on ownership or rights over private beaches ? Surely the villa can't own the beach ?

If they wanted to be @ssholes about it I guess they could ping us for trespassing on the track to get in there.

  • Author

Well you get nowhere unless you ask... I just emailed Baan

Khunying villa and asked them if I can have access :)

They can't own the beach but can own the road.

I only see the tag 'Coral Beach' no resort, and looking at the view there is no resort there. Only next door, Baan Khunying.

Steven, if you look very carefully, you will see what appears to be a dwelling there. I have marked it with an arrow. I guess this is a private home so that accounts for the access road that isn't servicing Baan khunying.

OK that access driveway is off the table. It's sealed by a closed gate. WHile this gate could easily be penetrated (ie; scaled :) ), it starts to look pretty dodgy one we wilfully circumvent security. Can't claim ignorance when we jump the perimeter fence

Hire a longtail and go from Rawai Beach

  • Author

Yep, I would say I could talk to one of the sea gypsys to take me down there for next to nothing :)

  • Author

The owner of the villa confirms that it is a public beach but there is no public road. After assuring him that we will leave the beach in pristine condition, he's said I can use the track that leads to his villa for water access.

Kudos to him. And checking out his villa, it looks like a great place to stay next time ! Ideal for those who like seclusion and privacy.

There are a couple of driveways further along the road with no gates on them and no private property  signs either so you should be safe checking them out

Yep. In case you were typing while I was, my last post illustrates the outcome. I can access the beach via the villa's driveway.
