What's connected to this light unit ?

Featured Replies

This is the backup light in the condo - not part of my units circuit but part of the condo system, that can be used when the main power goes out. I want to change the light to an led flat type unit. What are the 2 bits attached to the existing light - the cylinder thing at the top and the rectangle unit on the side ? Never seen these before so wondering what they do and if I just need to cable in the new light where the old light connected to. Thanks.

The round bit is a Power Factor correction capacitor, the square bit is the choke.

Assuming your LED is a 220V type you need none of that lot, just disconnect at the choc-blok far top right.
