rooster59 Posted February 4, 2017 Share Posted February 4, 2017 Phuket Smart City Free High Speed Wi-Fi now available PHUKET: The Governor of Phuket has confirmed that the project to have 1,000 free Wi-Fi hotspots available across Phuket, a project costing just under B240 million, is now complete. Gov Chockchai Dejamornthan said on Thursday (Feb 2), “Phuket is the first province that has Smart City Free High Speed Wi-Fi. It is now available at every major tourist beach, in Phuket Town and Saphan Hin. “The digital policy for economics and sociability is an important policy which applies information technology to develop the country as well as Phuket in both the public and private sectors. Digital technology is a quick and reliable means of doing transactions,” he said. This is what I call "looks tightly calculated" ... Yeah, that is almost £5,500 per hot spot. Wonder what smarts were used to save money. Running power, cabling can be quite expensive. Sure it is all quite transparent and on the up and up. It's Thailand. So WiFi makes a city smart ? How ? Been working with it for over 15 years. Don't feel smart at all. An extension of the grab app you can use for a taxi. A mini bus drives along and knows exactly where to stop and pick you up, more buses can be dispatched depending on demand.
