PHUKET: -- An American man was found dead at a hotel room in Patong yesterday afternoon.

“We received a report of the incident at about 3:30pm. The deceased was 58 years old and staying at Orange Hotel,” said Maj Pattapee Srichai of Patong Police.

“We found him lying face up on his bed with no wounds or marks on his body and nothing out of the ordinary.”

The hotel receptionist told police that the victim had visited the hospital on Saturday, but hadn’t ventured outside since.

Let's see,

Visited the hospital then died.

Found alone on his room without a mark in his body.

Nothing in his room to suggest foul play.

Never left his room except to visit the hospital.

Staff reports no visitors to his room.

So obviously he was murdered by some greedy Thai person, right ThaiVisa amateur homocide detectives?

I mean, it's all there. What other conclusion could you possibly arrive at?

Unfortunately due to the corruption being so rife in the land of smoke and mirrors and the truth having no value at all, events like this attract speculation.  Sometimes wrong but also sometimes spot on the money ( often literally).

Is it too early to speculate that he was robbed at the hospital?

Maybe he isn't dead at all?  Maybe the hospital prescribed sleeping tablets because he was suffering from insomnia and when they found him nobody thought to check his pulse!  Anytime soon he may wake up and wonder way he is in a morgue.  On the other hand...
