MSX Mechanical Help Please

Hello all, one for any bike engine buffs out there. The MSX has started making a noise when changing down gears: a sort of whiny/grinding sound, immediately after releasing the clutch and disappears once revs stabilise. No other issues, no jumping out of gear or problems finding gears. If the throttle is open and then released quickly it also makes the same sound. Gears grinding? Clutch issue? Any help appreciated. Cheers

My guess is clutch problem
shouldnt cost much to take the clutch side engine cover off and inspect the clutch for worn parts or damage. (watch the mechanic while he works )

Might be just a simple clutch cable adjustment or worn stretched clutch cable.
