Lamborghini severed in half but driver unhurt in crash on palm tree

BANGKOK: -- The driver of a Lamborghini sports car was unscathed and two passengers inside were slightly injured when the car lost control, grazing a motorcycle and crashing into a palm tree.

The palm tree was broken apart after being struck by the speeding Lamborghini Murcielago sports car.

But the sports car was turned to wreck when the impact severed it nearly in half and forced it’s two left wheels to come off.

The incident happened ‪at 03.00 am Monday‬ on the Praditmonootham road.

Chokechai police said the driver of the sports car and two friends are all in their late 20s, while the slightly injured man and woman on the motorcycle grazed by the sports car are in their late teens.

According to police, the driver of the sports car was identified as Mr Satiravat Kampiranon.l

He was unhurt while his two friends suffered bruises in their legs and arms.

The car was borrowed from his friend in real estate business, police said.

Satiravat said after having a dinner at a restaurant on the same road with friends, he borrowed the car from a friend to drive junior friends home on Nawamin road.

As he drove on the steep portion on the Klong Kliang bridge, the car hopped and became airborne.

The car lost control, grazing a couple on a Honda motorcycle, hitting the sidewalk and ramming into a palm tree on the pavement.

I should think the least of his worries, compared to the value of the borrowed Lambo.

I always hate to read "the car lost control" instead of "the bloody stupid driver lost control of the innocent car".

This Lambo has 2 (two) (bucket-)seats only, the two(!) friends sitting in the only passenger seat were very lucky only to have suffered bruises, the more so they could not have any safety-belt buckled on... What will police, and insurance tell about that...

Oh, and was the driver tested for alcohol and drug use, at the scene or just after...?

The speed at which such a car can/will 'hop', the more so become 'airborn', is, very, far above any speed limitation in Thailand, let stand inside Bangkok... So, by no means, can it be 'The car lost control...', but for sure that the, totally reckless, 'driver' did! Furthermore, the extensive damage to the car attests of the high speed (way above 120km/h IMO) the Lambo had gathered when it crashed! Has that Satiravat been arrested on-the-spot for reckless driving and endangering human lifes...?

'After having dinner at a restaurant on the same road...', hmm, is it Mr. Satiravat, ...at 03.00 am, yes, su-ure!

And another 'borrowed' supercar.

'SoFarAndNear': Even another 'borrowed' Lamborghini... Would Mr. 'X' lose his smile from this one being wrecked...?

As long as he had a driving license and was not drinking alcohol, this should not be a worry. I dont think anybody owning a lamborgini would be without first class insurance. This car has no way other than being declared a CTL (Comprehensive Total Loss) and the insurance company will pay for a new car less depreciation.

no need to wait for driver's recovery to do a blood test.

Just take a fecal scraping from either the seat, the windscreen, the diff...

Anybody knows where the engines from such crashes end up?

I am not in the market for a 12 cyl Lamborghini engine, but could well fancy a high powered Benz/AMG diesel.

Where to buy 2nd hand?

Shame about the palm tree.

Quite  right as a palm lover im appalled

Now, it just must be Lambourghini that is this years choise of the safest car brand in the world.

Another well connected Thai who no doubt we will hear nothing more about due to the corrupt RTP taking a hefty wedge not to investigate this dangerous driver properly.
