Honest Krabi cabbie returns wallet to Hungarian tourist

By The Nation

A taxi driver in Krabi province on Wednesday returned a wallet containing Bt50,000 in cash to the Hungarian tourist who forgot it in his cab.

The wallet was handed over at the provincial tourism office in the presence of Suriyan Narongkul, Krabi’s Muang district chief, and representatives from relevant government agencies.

On February 11, cabbie Dulrae Senhanuman was cleaning his taxi at the end of his shift and found the wallet in the back seat. He had just dropped two Hungarian tourists off at the airport. His normal route is between Ao Nang and Krabi Airport.

“I’m very happy to have had a hand in making our society better and building more confidence for tourists to come visit our country,” the cabbie said.

Not sure it was the cabbie who prepared that speech, it was probably Apichai Hiranyik, the Krabi tourism office director.

But joking aside, fair play to the cabbie.

I was brought up that 'honesty is the best policy'

"Honest Thai cabbie returns vast sum of money left by stupid foreigner in taxi to or from airport." story.

Yep, 1st. of the month.

TAT writes and issues these stories I swear they must.

Bangkok Post usually prints them.

Some of us are no longer fooled.
