Traffic on the Suk has been awful lately around Ban Ampur & also the Huay Yai intersection.

Bumper to bumper for a couple of clicks at 9.30am this morning going South.

You can't even get away from the traffic when you're out of town & it's not exactly the high season or holidays

they are doing road works just past the Ban Amphur lights. Actually just past the left turn at Tesco/7-11.

The lights at Huay Yai are just plain stupid as they only let one side of Suk go at a time, to allow people to turn right off Suk. Beggars belief why they don't put in proper turning lanes for all the turns/u-turns, as there is plenty of room to do so in the centre island. It would be more safer and traffic would flow better, as no need to hold the lights so long for turning right.

Further past Ban Amphur, the lights are very slow to let traffic come out from Silverlake, they hold the lights for a lot longer thna is usually necessary and they change fast.. On weekends, the traffic backs up heading south, and it is usually not heavy traffic.

Glad i ride a bike to get past it all quickly!  :)

It has taken me more than 10 minutes to cross Suk at times.  Traffic is insane and partly due to poor road infrastructure.  Like said above, a turn lane is desperately needed at Huay Yai light, and a few other places.

As for a bike, the guys who run the ambulance service are located not far from our house.  I hate to say how many they pick up off the road every week.  Too many to count.  I'll stick with my AC car, music on, and take my time to get to my destination! LOL

Besides hospitals and gravel rash you don't know what you are missing! I just went for a ride the back way to Ban Chang this morning at 7am. Nice and cool even with all my gear on, the sound of the engine is the only music i need. It always puts a smile on my face riding the bike, even when (like this morning) some idiot indicates to turn right and then decides to go left cutting me off. Ahh, Thailand driving; you have to laugh otherwise you'd cry.

I've got a scooter and do ride the back roads at times.  But with 3-4 friends in/out of the hospital recently, a few with permanent injuries, I'm scared!

One is unable to play music very well now...that would kill me.  His thumbs took the impact and he has problems picking.  Heck, couldn't even hold a beer for almost a month! LOL

I use the motor bike way more now days.

Just can 't do  the crazy traffic round Pattaya  /  Jomtien

But one thing that does increase all the traffic problems.

Is the selfish driving behaviour of the locals. just shocking.

they create there very own traffic jams on a clear road  .:bah::bah::bah:

2 major reasons for the ques......

- the traffic uses the emergency lane as an extra lane; the traffic there has to fit in into the two orignal lanes after the traffic lights causing a bottleneck.

- the traffic lights are being operated manually by the BiB in the police box and we all know that as soon as a BiB starts controling the traffic lights, long ques are the result.

The problem at Baan Amphur are the 2 U-turns; as soon as the BiB start to control the traffic flow it's a mess.

And then there's the pedestrian crossing at the exit/entrance of Ambassador City; instead of forcing pedestrians to use the footbridge, they allow them to use the pedestrian crossings often guided by security guards or police........

Good points.  There should be a light at the Ambassador.  I'd hate to think of how many have been hit there trying to cross the road.  Plus, it'd make drivers slow down!  It's there, just not used.

Plus this action,   can  interfere with valuable  Face book and Line,   time. :shock1:
