AgentSmith Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I have a pair of jeans I need altered. I already asked two regular tailors but not entirely unexpected none of them had special machinery to work on jeans fabric. I did find a random lady with a machine on the side of the road but I am not so sure about the quality of her work. I am willing to pay a decent amount of money just so the job gets done right. Does anyone know of a professional that does this kind of work? I stay in Phuket Town but anywhere is ok for me.
Lamkyong Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 stick with the lady side of road never had a problem around here usually do while you wait and very reasonable charge
Psimbo Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 The 'randoms' are quick and efficient- just because they don't have a fancy shop doesn't mean they are no good. Its only a pair of jeans anyway!

Its only a pair of jeans anyway! That first one's a given. I just meant that I have no way of telling what kind of products they delivered. Shops I can find reviews of and I can check what there products are. But 'only a pair of jeans', hmmm, I value all my clothes especially jeans. I go there so it doesn't go to waste and I don't need to buy a new pair. :) Jeans can easily last a decade.
DrDave Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 We've used the "sidewalk stitchers" in Patong quite a few times, always with good results. Hemming a pair of jeans is about 50 baht, and my wife has also had alterations done to her clothing with quality work at minimal cost.

madmax2 Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 The Levi store in Jungceylon does alterations to jeans you buy there Give them a try, no reason they would not alter other jeans if requested to do so
KarenBravo Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 All a bit of a con. Go to five different tailor's shops in Karon and they all use the same sweat-shop to do the actual work. Tailor's make their money on the cloth they sell. This business model is the same in Patong.

My post said that no matter what tailor he chooses in a local area, the work will be done by the same person as they all use the same sweat-shop. You don't think that's relevant? Or, you couldn't make the connection?
