Just looked at the guidance for the UK visitor visa and it says the letter from an employer should be on headed paper. Does it have to be official company headed paper or is it OK for it to be printed from a PC on Word?

The other thing is that in section 4 it says a list of documents that should not be included...  such as photographs and flight bookings. However, most people say that these should be included as supporting evidence of a genuine relationship. Should they still be included?

Whilst the UKVI say that a letter should be on headed notepaper, it's a fact of life that not every company has a stock of headed notepaper, with many using the computer generated letters you suggest.

If the applicants employer doesn't have headed notepaper then don't make one up, if caught out it could lead to serious consequences, supply what they do use, even if that is indeed a computer generated letter, and add a line in the covering note explaining it. It's worthy of note that if the note is written in English and a UKVI team member called the author, they would expect to communicate in English, if the employer doesn't write or speak English then submit the note in Thai with a certified translation.

As you say the UKVI specifically state that photographs should not be supplied, I'm not sure that most people say they should be, there are many ways of proving a relationship. They also specifically advise that flights shouldn't be booked until the visa is issued.
