For various reasons I need to get a tourist visa next week from Vientiane, has anyone been recently and had to show proof of funds? I was planning to show a Thai ATM slip or bank book. Don't want to carry cash if I don't need to. Thanks.

Vientiane does not ask for proof of funds or a ticket out of the country.

It might help to provide proof of funds to avoid a warning stamp?

Personally, I would probably take a bank book just in case. You never know when policies might change. I would not show the book unless asked for it though.
