Woman dies outside CentralWorld when run over by city’s garbage truck

A woman who was riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle died outside CentralWorld shopping mall yesterday when their vehicle was run over by a city garbage truck.

 

The victim was identified as Thanaporn Phutham, a worker at Bangkok Mass Transit Authority.

 

Her husband, Saksit Yimchareon, told police that he was driving in the right lane of Ratchadamri Road. Suddenly, his motorcycle flipped at the same time that the garbage truck came out of Big C supermarket, causing it to run over his wife, who sat on the back.

Not a good day in paradise.  First a Tuk Tuk kills someone in the entrance of the apartments it services and now the rubbish truck runs over a woman thrown from a motorbike.  Of course both will go down as an accident with no one to blame.

Yeah but then it would have skidded or slid, not flipped. 'Flipped' sounds like the aftermath of a wheelie or going head-over-heels.

 

Just curious, that's all.

I get this feeling that the driver was driving the Thai way not the safe Way dodging in and out of traffic

 

No regard for rule of the road as most motorcycle drivers do

most likely lost control dodging cars or other motorcycles, could be riding on the wrong lane too which is what many motorcycles do during rush hour and when oncoming lane is free of cars

Actually I think that is the exact opposite. With the amount of Chaos on the roads, if they weren't good drivers, there would be carnage everywhere 24/7.

 

You just have to learn to drive Thai Style, and forget about your western ways.  Throw the rule book out the door and you will do just fine.

So you think they're good drivers? Methinks you are very much in the minority. Among other areas of life in Thailand, when it comes to Thai vs western driving, it has damn all to do with style vs ways; it's Thai common sense vs the conventional variety.

Lol.... there is carnage everywhere 24/7!!!!.... most of the chaos is created by the road abusers, who can't (or won't) follow road rules.

are you serious ????????  they never ever look when they pull out of a side road onto a main road. HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN THAILAND ?

Nonsense, I have been driving in Thailand for 7 years and most people do look when they come out from side roads. Yes some don't and are plain stupid .  

 

Next time you can start counting and observe , They will look in the mirror and behind for traffic.

Then you must have seen different things during those 7 years as me during 20 years driving.

 

Oh yes some look right when entering a road, and then continue slowly entering the road while starring at the oncoming traffic.

 

And some even look in the rear mirror ...............to squeeze out their pimples
