The new UK series B e-passport

Featured Replies

Just curious - Has anybody experienced this new issue yet? I believe the chip has moved to the front, isn't it?

Mine, issued last year, has no obvious chip but accordinq to the UK website the chip is in the cover (doesn't say front or back).  Anyway, who cares?  And why?

That is only for applying for the passport in the UK and from a few countries possibley. No change for here: See: https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports/y/thailand/renewing_new/adult

Change is coming which is why I flagged this update. If recent form is anything to go by we (rest of the world) can expect further moves in this direction in 6 to 18 months which will go down very well with the elderley, disabled or (some) TV posters who feel they should receive theirs by drone

This fully online service will gradually become available to all passport customers. In the meantime, all UK customers and British citizens overseas can still complete the majority of their application and pay online, before printing and returning a signed declaration, their supporting documents, and photographs in the post to HM Passport Office to process.
