March 15, 20179 yr Mine, issued last year, has no obvious chip but accordinq to the UK website the chip is in the cover (doesn't say front or back). Anyway, who cares? And why?

If recent form is anything to go by we (rest of the world) can expect further moves in this direction in 6 to 18 months which will go down very well with the elderley, disabled or (some) TV posters who feel they should receive theirs by drone Quote This fully online service will gradually become available to all passport customers. In the meantime, all UK customers and British citizens overseas can still complete the majority of their application and pay online, before printing and returning a signed declaration, their supporting documents, and photographs in the post to HM Passport Office to process.
