BANGKOK: -- A man whose mysterious disappearance sparked a widespread social media "hunt" has been found floating in a Bangkok klong.

Phat Khlaiyan, 30, disappeared after being out drinking alcohol with friends on March 10th. He had been taken to the Victory Monument by friends and been put in a taxi but had thereafter disappeared, Thai News Agency reported.

He was found in Klong Sam Sen near the community of Wat Taphan Din Daeng.

The body was sent for autopsy but Din Daeng police gave the opinion that there were no suspicious circumstances. The man had died from drowning, there were no marks on the body and he still had the valuables he was carrying.

Police said several people have fallen into the klong in that area because of the lack of a fence.

Relatives, however, have suggested that there is more to the death than a man simply falling into the klong.

At least he didn´t jump from 27 stories up. To big mess to clean up all the time.
