Cheap Lazada LED TV's - do they last more than a year?

Looking for a real cheap Tv for  a spare room..

I notice on Lazada some real cheap flat screen TV's around the 32inch or less for less than 5000THB. Brands such a ProVision, SkyWorth, Abisu etc cannot find any reviews of them on Youtube besides some Thai language.

Anyone bought these, are they any good?

Need something cheap but should I go for a Samsung and pay more? I want it to last at least 4-5 years.

TLC are a good affordable brand. My 50" TLC has a better picture than my 40" Samsung.

Yes, we actually already bought a TCL in the end. Only 32 inch for a spare bedroom. Even went for the SmartTV version for a laugh as they seem very cheap and packed with features for less than 7000THB. Picture and sound good as well. If it lasts a couple of years for the price we'll be OK.

I bought 2 TLC 32" 8 years ago and both have operated without any issues and continue to do so - HD was not available so have purchased an LG (failed totally in 14 months) and 2 Samsungs (one revived after several years by modifications on cable connector) and second showing signs of failing (raster lines on startup some times).  Consider TV purchase these days to be throw away and will go for lower priced units.  Last purchase about a year ago was 50" FLED model from Lazada (local brand) for 10k and still working great.

TLC is utter crap. It's the biggest flat screen producer in the world at the moment, but guess why, only because it is Chinese and sells in the country with the biggest population in the world.

Similar to most biggest manufacturers in the world, which are mostly Chinese for the very same reason, quality is mediocre at best.

That said, these days flat screens are produced to last only 2 years, otherwise they wouldn't be able to make them so cheap, because sales would stall.

I have 5 large LG plasma's, all bought 7 years ago, and one LG 42" bought 11 years ago, and they are all working flawlessly.

Try to find one these days that last that long.

Actually my first visit to Bejing was some 45 plus years ago (when there was no color on the streets) and even then was impressed with the quality of the color TV's in Bejing Hotel - so I would not be so fast to belittle Chinese TV sets - this was before they had access to the worlds top technology.

I have a TCL that is several years old. It sits out on the patio. Excellent picture and it is used every day.

I had an expensive Sony Bravia that didn't last even two years. They wanted 8,000 baht to repair it. No more Sony products for me. I always hated that TV because they are kind of like Apple. Everything is proprietary.

I replaced that Sony with a Samsung and whatever I plug into it works. I would have bought a TCL but Tesco nor Big C had any.

Reason for this thread is the previous TV was a 6 year old LG LED that suddenly won't turn on. No standby lights or anything. We also had a more expensive (36,000THB back in 2009) older LG that won't turn on anymore either in another room - the standby light just flashes red. LG is now off our shopping list for ever.

We still have three Samsung Smart TVs that have never been a problem so far, so we haven't discarded that brand yet, but will be interesting how this TCL performs.

My Samsung microwave only lasted 15 months, and was cheaper to buy another one than get it repaired. Samsung are ok for smartphones etc, otherwise forget them.

There is a Samsung service centre in Korat, full of customers trying to get their phones etc fixed, so no more Samsung for me.

My spare Samsung is working fine after a year , 32" , only 5000 baht I think it was.

From Lazada of course, in the shops you pay 2000 more.

I have a 10-11 year old 50" Panasonic plasma TV that is still working well... I paid more than 250,000 baht for it back then as it was the top of the line model.

It shows 720p and 1080p movies perfectly.

Amazing how prices have tumbled over the years.

When I bought a TV last week the price on Lazada was exactly same as in shops, so I bought in shop as the delivery time from Lazada was not convenient.

Lazada is shops - so you look for the low price on the model you want - often some shops will be cheaper.  Lazada also sells some things directly and they are almost always cheaper and delivery is rapid.  On the right side near price will be the source - if directly sold it will say Lazada.  Also remember delivery time is worst case - my experience is next day to 4 days in most cases (items sourced in Thailand).

TV and some other electrical things, are the only things that have actually decreased in price,

while the cost of everything else has skyrocketed, the first tv I bought here ,30 years ago was

a 21" Toshiba and cost 12,000 THB,

And more reliable. 40 inch Samsung LB550 about 8 years old. It was used continuously in a business 14 hours six days a week.

Recently it would start flikering on and off after a few hours. I did not even look into getting it fixed just gave away to a caretaker at the condo.
