Good mechanic for a 1990 MB 560SEL?

Featured Replies

Hi, new here on the forum. I need a good mechanic who can take service and maintain my Mercedes W126 560SEL 1990.

Bought the car used from a family in Chiang Mai for two years ago, an owner since new.

Love this old MB, a dream to drive.

I want to maintain the car in original condition, with original parts. Have the opportunity and get parts from Switzerland which is my homeland.

Looking for a serious mechanic / workshop capable services and repairs in Chonburi or Bangkok, someone who can help with information?

Pattaya has good German mechanics. I would not let any Thai touch mine.

Can you please tell me where, or a phone number?

I ask a friend who should know and he sent me this ....

Yes, for 560 SEL, I suggest a good technician, Sak 0898026716. His mercedes garage is on Ramindra rd.

I would say do that next time you came to Bangkok. Or book in for something simply like an oil change? You can always leave the car there while you go shopping?

My wife can change engine oil but I wouldn't let her loose on much else under the bonnet ...

Not sure where in Chonburi you are located at, however, there is a new place that has opened up that 'supposedly' specialises in German vehicles, I've never used it myself, but it does look to be reasonably professional.

It is located on the slip road to highway 7 from highway 36 in the Pong district, so if you were coming from the Rayong direction, then take the exit for highway 7 Bangkok / Pattaya and the garage is on the left side, just before the road widens up and splits again, you can't really miss it.

As I said, no idea if good or bad, but worth taking a look if it is not too far from you.

You missed the whole point. You get something simple done so you can case the joint. I guess one could simply visit but that won't help with the parking!

My friend takes his Merc 280 there and his "classic" BMW 2002.

Why is Sak on Ramindra rd. better?

Well one of us certainly missed the point ...☺

I didn't say that he was ... I just asked a friend who has some older Mercs, including an SL500  where to go and that's where he told me...

My friend is reliable ...that is all I can say. He is very much a car guy and in fact formed the Thailand JDC with a friend quite some years ago now.

If it's the same Narong that services a Vios and Benz for me, he now lives and works out of his house in Chiang Rai. He used to work in Bangkok for 20 years.Very thorough and not expensive. I found him through the Chiang Rai forum, if I remember correctly.

OK . An older guy and his wife? I will walk down there tomorrow and check.
