Everybody is crazy in foreign land to some extent because back home there are the rules norms and all the pressure of society. Everybody knows you. You have to behave. But once you are abroad and nobody knows you, you are off the chain. 

The average person is so suppressed these days, that's why they go crazy far from home. 

I don't like normal, so I do the same when I am home. If it's not straight up crazy, I am not even remotely interested.
