NEW FERRY SERVICES INTRODUCED FROM SATTAHIP

Featured Replies

Ferry Operator Royal Passenger Liner will introduce two new ferry services from Sattahip in May.

The firm who currently offer twice daily trips from Pattaya to Hau Hin, will add further services from Sattahip to Koh Chang and Hau Hin.

Spokesman Sorasak Saensombat confirmed the company were in the process of purchasing two new vessels with a capacity to carry 350 passengers.

Prices and times have yet to be set and the usual trial runs will take place before the new services are launched.

In addition to the latest sailings being revealed, the company have plans to operate a service from Sattahip to the Pran Buri district.

We revealed earlier today that Sattahip would be subject to substantial investment of two billion baht as the government plans to develop the area into a major logistics hub for the Chonburi area.
The intentions are to create quays to accommodate ocean going liners, ferries and improve U-Tapao Aiport along with new roads linking the airport to Sattahip.

The cross gulf routes make sense because of the time savings, but the ko chang route will be a harder sell. Even with the ferry crossing, the drive to ko chang will be faster, and the ferries carry vehicles.

Destination further south like Samui makes more sense, and since they won't be using car ferries for a while, Samui is  a destination itself that doesn't require that much onward journey

I'll give it a try. At times the ferry from the mainland can be hours of wait both ways.
