I doubt the production quality of my country :-D

For my personal items, I've tried regular postal once; Chinese express delivery once; marine freight once, all three times gave me relatively satisfactory results.

It's shame almost anything import from China are waived from import tariff, but car & car parts not.

Thanks.

china specific

http://igtf.customs.go.th/igtf/en/main_frame.jsp

tariff code

Normally you'll pay import tariff on ( cost+insurance+freight ), and 7% vat on ( tariff+cif ), excise + internal tax may also apply

Normally personal items only taxed 7% vat when customs official in good mood. I imported personal tig welder hydro pipe bender alotof milwaukee 18Vs bench instruments etc. all waived from tax. Price like 1600baht Zhejiang->Bangkok for 0.5m^3 150kg( marine freight 20 days ).

Many marine freight companies could help "waive" tax / clear customs with their *connections*, even importing clearly chinese counterfeits, but to what extent is out of my knowledge.

From my previous working experience( company import wheels from china but i'm IT not involving in details ), normally a trustworthy marine freight company will be 99% satisfactory except 1% issues with either ch or th customs, in case could cause severe delay or unreasonable confiscate.

Also hope someone could provide actual experience, could car parts count as personal items? Albeit worked at ch-th import/export, I don't involving in details nor buy from alibaba, taobao is great on general goods depends which specific seller.

So three car parts at 400 us $ would probably double in price?

Sorry I couldn't give a definite estimation, hope someone else does;

It's proud to know foreigners interested in chinese car parts, may I ask what type of parts you interested in? Cost depends on which kind of parts and how many, I'll try ask former colleague tomorrow.

is there a train yet ?   or by road ?

I know you can air freight (expensive)  or sea ( takes a long time + extra fees )

In my former company, they have regular container trucks from Guangzhou.

Normal goods about 3000-4000baht / cubic meter, truck by road more expensive like 4500-6000 / m^3, includes clear customs everything. Rarely see car parts coming, price like 10000baht / m^3 by sea if I remember correctly, dunno if that includes customs clearance( likely not ). Electronics also expensive. High density goods like solid metal calculate on weight also more expensive.

Full container of wheels & tyres cost 240,000 to 300,000 baht shipping & clear. ( around 80 cubic meters )

Guess other chinese companies will be of similar pricing. And before I left the company, the shipping cost was rising.

Bought one cheap discounted fmic(tig welded air charge cooler, $65 because it's a show unit left in stock) for my st205. DPEX Suzhou to Bangkok arrived in 48 hrs(~$90), and they didn't mention any tax yet, amazing.

Because no one at home(working at Asoke) they'll resend to me saturday tomorrow, curious to know if any tax applies.

Ordered some small car trim parts and mobile phone cover ,two months still waiting. Other parts came in a month. Seems hit and miss on delivery.

I ordered some new parts for my mk6 golf GTI from the USA and got hit at 30% + 7% VAT. This is apparantly the official rate. Although if you say you don't need a receipt the rate can of course be bargained down.

If i order some parts arrive from China from Alibaba or AliExpress, I am assuming the rate will be the same no? I have seen some intercooler kits on there for a decent price.

I have ordered many other electronic items off alibaba and aliexpress and had no issues. Only exception is if you use DHL of course as they seem to primarily exist to make life difficult.

Hi All, I have bought from Alibaba Express, numerous car accessories , always asked for them to be shipped by China Mail, no problems with import tax, although delivery times can be erratic, from a few days to 2 months.

I avoid DHL and Fedex like the plague as they hold you to ransom.

From The States have had bad experience's with DHL, parts cost me 5000 Baht for my then Jeep Wrangler, DHL would not hand over the goods till I paid them a further 6000 Baht, so have items shipped by UPS.
