Thai passport office in Surat Thani or Chumphon....

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine may need to obtain a Thai passport for their son.   I've heard there is an office in Surat Thani, but I've never been there before.  So.....

Where is the office located?

Is there a phone # or website?

What documents are needed to get a passport for a Thai national (minor)?

Also experiences from anyone who has actually done it there would be helpful.   Thanks.

Do you [or anyone] remember what documents you brought?

did you ever have to do it for a Thai minor (under 15 years old)?  What documents did you take?

I'd give them a call.

Sorry for overlooking the "minor" in your OP!

Nothing additional needed if both parents are present with the child at the office.

Else some hints here:

- Applicants under the age of 15 must be accompanied by parents or a legal guardian.
If parents cannot appear, at least one parent must accompany the child when applying for
an e- Passport. If both parents cannot appear at the same time, one parent must accompany the applicant on the date of the application and as well bring a notarized parental consent form signed by the non- appearing parent. (parental consent form).

From an older thread I read that the form could be "notarized" at the district office (amphoe).

Ok. Looks like it will take longer than 30 minutes. Their screen queueing system is partially broken. They can issue the numbers, but it is unclear when they will actually get to you.

Looks like quite a wait :(

Docs needed for minor's passport:

1) Thai parent's national ID card
x2 if both parents thai.
if one of the parents is foreigner, use Foreigner's passport for ID.

If one parent cannot appear, need affidavit from local amphur office.
2) original Thai birth certificate

3) original housebook registration (tambien baan) showing thai minor's name and id #; should match id # on birth certificate.

4) thai passport application (they give it to you there, havent seen any online copies)

You will need to know the full English name and be able to write it or at least have it with you.

The closest from Kanchanaburi/Ratchaburi that I can find is on the western outskirts of Bangkok.

Temporary office at Pin Klao, "SC Plaza" shopping center, phone 02 422 3431.

It's on road #338 a short distance after flying over the western ringroad (#9).

Would at least save you a long drive through Bangkok.

I can't find something about Ratchaburi.

Well, hot off the press...

There seems to be a temporary passport office at Ratchaburi Town hall from

June 25-29, 2018 at 0800 - 16.30 hrs.

So tomorrow or Friday would be your chance to try it.

Found this in a Thai language article, quickly translated by Google.

Thanks.

I can't help with the exact location. No closer than "Ratchaburi (city) municipality".

And as written only two more days following the news report.

Just hasten to add , how very well organised and helpful the people running it were. Despite the high volume of people we were in and out within an hour.
