A painter and decorator has died following a horror jet-ski accident in Thailand.

George McKechnie, 45, formerly of Fintry in Dundee, was on holiday in the Pattaya region of the country when he suffered fatal head injuries in the incident on Sunday.

The authorities in Thailand think the jet-ski landed on him, but a post mortem is still to be carried out to make sure there was no foul play involved.

It is believed George died from serious head injuries.

George, latterly of Kirkcaldy, had been to the city of Pattaya before and was there with a friend at the time of the incident.

So sad.

Just another reminder: DON'T use them!

And if you don't you will be killed/hurt by one when swimming/wading in the water

Then what you are saying is don't visit or if you do stay off the beach

Yes I can see the logic in that thanks for the advice

RIP George another Brit will never see home again, very sad

R.I.P. George.....45 is too young to be taken away :jap:

looks 60 RIP

Yes he definitely looks older than 45.

Either way, not good that he was killed so young.

Jetski's are no different than snowmobiles.  Both have powerful engines that can accelerate fast.  The problem is inexperienced riders that have no idea of their power. They should restric the engine speeds. You can get your self in trouble in short order on these machines. I have driven both and know how to respect the machine.

Rip to the man.

Stay within the swim zones and you should be safe. If you don't see a swim only zone don't go in the water.

Looks more into his 50's, but yeah, I suspect a smoker (yellowing teeth), and smoking makes people look a lot older.

Stay off jet skis, stay of the beach, stay of scooters, stay of the roads, for sure stay away from travelling in public service vans, stay off alcohol & drugs, stay away from Katoeys, stay away from the police oh, and especially, stay away from balconies or yes better still, stay away from Thailand....I think that's about it.

Sorry George. RIP brother!

Yep, this is the hell that we have chosen as our home.

I'd be out of this over heated cesspit tomorrow if I could take my family here back home.

So why do you live in Pattaya. There are far nicer places to live in Thailand.

I have lived in rural Khampaeng Phet for 13 years now but that is an acquired habit.

Before that we lived in BKK for 3 years but never in Pattaya. I never did like big cities but they do have some good points.
