now how many of these laws are still enforced today?

I am or was not commenting on enforcement of these stupid laws.  I couldn't care less.

I am and was making the point that in the West also blasphemy laws still exist.

I don;t agree. There are loads of outdated laws n the books in every country that haven't been removed that would never be held up in a court of law. For example, there are laws about stealing horses in the USA... with extremely severe sentences mandated. But now I am 100% positive life in prison or similar would not be the sentencing for anyone convicted of horse theft.

In rural U.S.A you set yourself up for lynching or being shot at for stealing horses. :cheesy::clap2:

There are some countries in the west where you get arrested for swearing in public and fined.

Some catholic countries for instance.

:cheesy:, good one.

Off topic but worth mentioning and is true even today.

Driving a car without wearing shoes lands you also in jail, can't remember which state(s).

Probably can find using Google.

Actually, no, it's not.  And even if it was prohibited, I'm sure it's hardly a jailable offense.  Traffic ticket, maybe.

First off, in the States you can get arrested and booked just for telling off a police officer and not doing what he request you to do.

And I am sure there is a State who request you to wear footwear when driving a car.

Better we stop this discussion as it is far off topic.

You're right and I am wrong.

I did some Googling of my own and it seems that the myth comes from the car insurances who, when investigating an accident and discover one was or is driving without wearing shoes, will or try to not to pay out because according to them driving without shoes makes you a danger on the road.:sorry:
