Surin Public Health Office asks buyers of gift baskets to inspect canned goods

The Surin Public Health Office have cautioned citizens who purchase gift baskets with canned foods to inspect food labels.

The deputy Public Health physician of Suring province, Dr. Peerasak Polpruengsa (์พีรศักดิ์ ผลพฤกษา), said that a large number of people would purchase gift baskets during the New Year Holidays, which would include canned goods. Dr. Peerasak said buyers should observe the condition and labels on cans, which should include the place and date of the goods manufacturement, the quantity of food additives, the foods mass. The public health physician said that cans should not be dented, opened, or contain air bubbles, which may cause bacteria to grow in them.

Dr. Peerasak added that eating canned goods containing bacteria may cause diarrhea, organ damage, and even death, therefore buyers of gift baskets with canned goods should inspect their purchase carefully before deciding to buy.
