December 30, 200619 yr Buriram cracks down on underground gambling The governor of Buriram province has ordered a crackdown on underground lotteries. The governor of Buriram province, Mr. Kongkiet Akaraprasertkul (ก้องเกียรติ อัครประเสริฐกุล), revealed that The Government Lottery Office has canceled the sales of 3 and 2 digit lotteries while lottery regulations are being adjusted. The governor is therefore deploying police, chief district officials, and deputy district officials to crackdown on incidents of underground lotteries. Gamblers, bookies, and especially gambling establishment owners would be prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law. Tax and criminal proceedings would be brought to bear against them as well. The Buriram governor added that government officials, and village headmen should refrain from becoming involved in underground lotteries, or risk facing legal and disciplinary prosecution.
