will never happen, the police will not allow them to take all the customers from their gambling joints.....

Who said the police wouldn't be 'allowed' a big part of the cake...?

How will those with vested interests in Poipet react?

Will there be a bidding process for the licence or will Section 44 still be in use?

Excuse me 'Smarter Than You', I don't know a lot about places where there are casinos. Is Poipet the one just over the border in Cambodia that would belong to Thaksin?

Hi guess most here do not know the history of gambling in Thailand and why the ban was imposed by His Majesty King Chulalongkorn.... short memories will pay in the longer term.

Keep the ban and uphold the memory of The Great King, I say!!!

then you should inform us as even wiki doesn't have a clue to what you are alluding to?.

p.s. how old are you as I don't think anyone's memories go that far back ......

Very good idea...the gambling addicts will leave good money for the country...that money will be used honestly, wisely and to improve infrastructures for all, better salaries for police and immigration officials and not just be used as "liqueur money" for a privileged few................and all of a sudden the alarm near the bed rings,  and I woke up!!:saai:...something happened?

the state will run the next version also

I see the potential for every Buddhist wat competing for casino licenses. They already take in easy money from the public. Time to step up their money game.

I see the potential that the Police will be first in line to provide casino "security and protection" for appropriate compensation. No more envelopes but barrels of "green tea."

No surprise here. Even the soi dogs have been barking this news for a couple of years now.

It's been a great tool to sell property in the past. "A casino is going right over there, buy now!"

They were talking about building a casino in Pattaya in 1998.

That said, 2018 elections? Uh huh, I'll believe it when I see it. Our dear leader will win by a landslide if there is one, and he won't want the job but he'll take it for the good of the nation.
