Illegal Road Racing Follows Bangsaen Grand Prix

About 100 illegal road racers took over a portion of Sukhumvit Road in Chon Buri Saturday night.

They were believed to have been members of the audience of the legal Bangsaen Grand Prix 2017, which ran from June 27 to July 2, because they sped around soon after the racing session on Saturday ended.

The illegal road racing caused public nuisance. Locals thus lodged a complaint with the Samet Police Station.

No one was arrested.

“We rushed out to check and they quickly escaped to the interprovincial motorway. We could not arrest them because there were only a handful of policemen at that time,” Samet Police Station’s deputy superintendent Pol Lt Colonel Chanatat Navakhunrangsi said Sunday.

More disturbing than the illegal racing after the event is the fact that I had to dig down to about the 3rd page of "Events and Offers in Pattaya" to find even a casual pre-event mention of the legal Grand Prix race anywhere on TVF.

That's pretty much a fail on the part of a forum like this.

After viewing the original screening of American Graffiti in Vancouver the streets for blocks around were filled with burning rubber, bellowing v8s through glasspack mufflers and speeding adults that should have known better, myself included. It isn't just Thais.
