Hua Hin students wowing tourists as they act as interpreters for the police

Featured Replies

Of course I hope anybody that has any significant dealings with the police or courts or other officials will somehow have the sense or means to engage a professional translator.  But for somewhat routine matters, this seems like the students could be useful

And never mind if the translation is wrong or misleading, etc.

So negative. This post.

For routine problems like lost wallet, passport

etc I can see this being useful and certainly some

students can speak well enough to help.

For more complex cases  it would certainly be a challenge for most

students and even most Thai teachers of English but again I think it is better than

nothing..

As for their ability in languages like Japanese and French,

I can't say except that I have seen a few students good at these languages.
