Best Hospital(s) in Bangkok ?

Featured Replies

Bangkok General just off Petchburi Rd is very good.

Bumrungrad and Samitivej are two other well known and regarded ones.

Bumrungrad and Samitivej have been good, Vejthani was bad--is Bangkok General better than Bumrungrad and Samitivej ? Thank you !

Bangkok General is much more convenient for me. Rama IX hospital is good too i've heard.

Don't think you'll go 'wrong' with any of them - but there may be some specialists at certain hospitals who are more highly reagrded of course.

With work, i've had BUPA and Cigna insurance and both have been trouble free and immediate coverage (no need to pay and bother with claiming back).

One thing for sure with hospitals in Thailand is that all the doctors

there are looking to over treat and over prescribes medicines to maximize

profit for the hospital,

also, some very important but imported medicines could be available in one

big hospital and not the others, which begs the question what are patients are

being prescribed if that medicine is not available in said hospital?..

Hey thanks again everyone..I am hoping to get a job with insurance soon as well.   I haven't run into overcharging or overtesting nonsense yet and I usually buy my meds outside the hospital to save cash

I use Bangkok Hospital and have never had any pressure to buy medications from hospital from the doctors that I use - but if you say nothing the doctor will order from Hospital Pharmacy as that is how it is done - they do not use prescription pads - but if you ask them to write down and you will buy have not found any doctor adverse to that - they are not being paid by drug sales in hospitals - clinics may be another matter.

Thanks man....So you have found Bangkok Hospital the best in all areas--service, cost and honesty ?  Thanks !

Cost is high for Bangkok Hospital - but for me insurance negates that issue.  For doctor consultations it is on par with most large private hospitals (but can very a great deal by doctor).
