Medical Services deputy chief injured in fall at Prathat Phanom Pagoda
By The Nation

NAKHON PHANOM: -- Medical Services Department deputy director general Narong Apikulawanit was injured when he fell from the third floor inside the Prathat Phanom Pagoda on Sunday.

Officials, who had accompanied Narong, said the accident happened after he and his entourage paid a visit to the much-revered pagoda at about 9am.

The entourage decided to climb up the ladder inside the pagoda to pay respects to the sacred relic inside. The pagoda has seven floors that can be climbed with a ladder.

The officials said when Narong reached the third floor where the relic was kept, he fell to the second floor.

He was taken to Phrathat Phanom District Hospital and then forwarded to Nakhon Phanom Provincial Hospital.

He suffered a broken jaw, a leg injury and bruising over his body.

He had been scheduled to chair a medical conference of the Health Zone 8 on Monday and Tuesday.

I'm sorry he was injured.

I bet he had an ambulance and wasn't put in the back of a "rescue foundation" pick up...
